We pause to remember and reflect on the life of fellow Ingraham '63 classmate Annette Buchanan who passed away on February 1, 2013. Through her courageous act of conscience, she paved the way for a very important provision in the protection of freedom of the press. Annette refused a judge's order to identify 7 sources in a story on marijuana use. She was later fined $300, but avoided a six-month jail sentence. Her actions are generally credited with pushing the law to compel reporters from disclosing their sources. It also protects reporters from searches.
